If you are having trouble getting the gate to open with your remote, we recommend first making sure that you are pointing the remote at the antenna. The antenna is a small thin wire that hangs off of the box above the entry and exit keypads. If that still doesn't work, your batteries may be getting weak. When the batteries start to get weak, there may be enough power for the red light on your remote to come on but not enough to send a strong enough signal to the antenna.
