First, realize that gate systems were designed to work with land line phones, which have very consistent tones which is what is needed to communicate properly to the gate to open. They usually work OK with cell phones, but there are so many different variables with mobile phones that can slightly alter the tone when you dial 9. And if that tone gets altered, it doesn’t alert the gate system to open. Just think of all the variables - different types of phones, different brands of phones, different versions of those phones! Plus different providers for each of those phones, and then updates that can occur on a regular basis! All of these variables can result in your phone not working even though it has worked in the past and seemingly nothing has changed!
So here are two possible "work-arounds" to try. First, make sure you take your phone off of wifi to force it to use cell service when the gate calls you. The wifi service can change the sound of the tone rendering it ineffective for opening the gate.
Second, put your phone on speaker when you answer, and press the 9 button a few times in a row.
We know that some phones put out a very short tone, which may not be long enough for the gate to "hear" it.
Hopefully these tips will get your phone working again!
